The 4th BRICS Women Ministerial Meeting 2026 took place in Kochi, Kerala from 8th to 9th July 2026 under India's BRICS Chairmanship 2026. 
The meeting was organised by the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD), brought together ministers and delegates to advance global gender equality.

  • Host Location & Dates: Kochi, Kerala, India (8th-9th July 2026).
  • Chairmanship & Theme: India is holding the 2026 BRICS Presidency. The core theme is Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.
  • Indian Leadership: The meeting was inaugurated and led by Annpurna Devi, the Union Minister for Women and Child Development.

  • First-Ever Joint Statement: The member nations adopted the first-ever documented Joint Statement under the BRICS Women Track, shifting the forum from general discussions to documented, actionable policy commitments. 
  • India-Led Digital Deliverables: India successfully introduced two major institutional frameworks during the summit:
    • BRICS Digital Repository of Best Practices: A shared portal for member nations to exchange successful women-centric policies and institutional innovations.
    • BRICS Digital Capacity Building Guidelines: Frameworks aimed at cross-border knowledge exchange and strengthening institutional cooperation.

Four Core Priority Areas

The 2026 Women Track discussions strictly focused on four pillars: 

  1. Women's Governance and Leadership: Enhancing female participation in high-level decision-making.
  2. Financial and Digital Inclusion: Redressing the gender digital divide and creating banking access.
  3. Entrepreneurship and Skill Development: Building robust pathways for female-led businesses and STEM education.
  4. Climate Action, Food Security, and Nutrition: Empowering women as central agents against climate change and rural malnutrition.
