Amit Garg appointed as Director of the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).

Senior IPS officer Amit Garg has been appointed as the new Director of the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB). 

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) officially approved his transition to the premier crime data agency under the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The post of Director at the NCRB has been temporarily upgraded to the Director General (DG) level on a personal basis specifically for his tenure. 

Tenure: He will hold the position until his superannuation (retirement) on October 31, 2027, or until further orders. 

Background: He is a 1993-batch IPS officer belonging to the Andhra Pradesh cadre. 

 Prior to this role, he was serving as the Director of the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) in Hyderabad.

 He succeeds Alok Ranjan, a 1991-batch officer from the Madhya Pradesh cadre.
