Amazon Future Engineer Programme launched in India - 01 Oct 21
Highlights:
- As per company, Amazon future programme will enable access
to quality computer science education as well as career opportunities for
students from underrepresented and underserved communities.
- During the first year of its launch, Amazon aims to enable
and deliver learning opportunities to about 1 lakh students from 900 government
and aided schools in seven states of India.
Detailed Analysis:- Amazon Future Engineer programme was launched with the aim
of addressing the gap by bringing early exposure and access to computer science
education to students by means of in-person, online and blended learning
formats.
- Amazon is working in collaboration with its global knowledge
partner Code.org which is a global non-profit organization dedicated to
computer science education.
- Considering the local nuances, curriculum has been
contextualized for Indian teacher and student community across government
school settings.
- It will offer students with coding fundamentals along with the
future-focused tech courses such as Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language
Processing (Voice Technology) in Indian languages and Machine Learning.
- Amazon Future Engineer Programme will enable students from
underserved communities in India to get, who face disproportionate barriers to
education, especially in computer science, right exposure & accessibility
to quality computer science education.

- Right Livelihood Award 2021 was conferred to Delhi-based
environmental organisation “Legal Initiative for Forest and Environment
(LIFE)”.
- This award is also known as “Sweden’s alternative Nobel Prize”.
- LIFE has received the award for its “grassroots approach to
empower vulnerable communities in protecting their livelihoods and claiming
their right for a clean environment.”
Other awardees include:- Cameroonian women rights activist Marthe Wandou,
- Environmental activist from Russia, Vladimir Slivyak and
- Indigenous rights defender from Canada, Freda Huson.
- About Right Livelihood Award
- Right Livelihood Award was established by Ole von Uexkull
who happens to be the executive director of Right Livelihood.
- The award honours
and supports people in solving global problems.
- It comprises of a cash prize of
1 million Swedish crowns and a long-term support that highlights and expands
Laureates’ work.
- LIFE received the Award for its innovative legal work of
empowering communities to protect their resources following the “environmental
democracy in India.”
- According to Right Livelihood, despite a robust
environmental protection law framework in India, access to justice for those
planning to protect remaining forests and biodiversity in India is often
limited.
- Thus, to bridge this gap, LIFE was founded.
LIFE: A Fact File- LIFE was founded in 2005 by lawyers Ritwick Dutta and Rahul.

Najla Bouden Romdhane become Tunisia’s first female PM - 02 Oct 21
Highlights:
- Najla Bouden Romdhane has become the first female prime
minister of Tunisia on September 29, 2021.
- She has been named as Prime Minister, two months after
President Kais Saied assumed his charge, dismissed the former prime minister
and suspended parliament.
- Romdhane was assigned to form a new government in the midst
of growing domestic and international discontent regarding president’s power
seizure.
- Romdhane is expected to have less direct power as compared
to former prime ministers under the 2014 constitution.
- This is because,
President Saied announced during the emergency period that the new government
will be responsible to the president.
- Romdhane in her capacity will have to inherit political and
economic crisis that has gripped Tunisia during the past few years. Crisis has
worsened since President Saied took “exceptional measures.”
- Recently President Saied issued presidential decrees and
announced plans to form a transitional government. He also announced new
electoral rules.
- Tunisia is also facing outbreak of the COVID-19 strains in

Najla Bouden Romdhane : A Fact File- Romdhane is a professor of geology at the National School of
Engineers in Tunis.
- She was born in the year 1958 in Tunisia’s central Kairouan
province.
- Before appointed as prime minister, she was assigned to implement
programmes with the World Bank, by the Ministry of Higher Education and
Scientific Research.
- In 2011, she worked as the director-general in charge of
quality at Ministry of Higher Education.
- Tunisia is the northernmost country of Africa.
- It is
bordered by Algeria, Libya and the Mediterranean Sea.

Aapda Mitra Scheme of Training Manual Released - 02 Oct 21
Highlights:
- Home Minister Amit Shah released the training manual of
Aapda Mitra Scheme on September 29, 2021, on the occasion of 17th foundation
day celebrations of “National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA)”.
- While addressing the celebrations, minister noted that,
India is moving towards creating a disaster management system to ensure than
not a single life is lost, no matter how severe a disaster gets.
- On the occasion, he released training manual of Aapda Mitra
Scheme as well as plan documents of Aapda Mitra & Common Alerting Protocol.
- Foundation Day of NDMA was celebrated under the theme-
‘Stopping Impact of Disaster Incidents in the Himalayan Region’.
Aapda Mitra Scheme: A Fact File- Aapda Mitra scheme will soon be launched in 350 districts of
India by National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).
- Under this scheme, more than one lakh young volunteers from
350 districts will be trained.
- So far, 5500 Aapda Mitra and 5500 Aapda Sakhi
have been trained, who can extend help in case of disaster or natural calamity
like flood in remote places.
- All these volunteers would get life insurance by the
government.
NDMA: A Fact File- NDMA is an apex Body, that lay down policies for disaster
management.
- It was established through the Disaster Management Act, which
was enacted by the Government on December 25, 2005.
- NDMA has been tasked with framing policies, laying down
guidelines & best-practices to coordinate with the State Disaster
Management Authorities (SDMAs).
- It seeks to ensure a holistic and distributed approach
towards disaster management.
- NDMA is headed by the Prime Minister and can have up to nine
other members.
- There have been five other members, since 2020.

NCW Launches Training Program for Women in Dairy Farming - 02 Oct 21
Highlights:
- National Commission for Women (NCW) launched a nationwide
training and capacity building programme for women in dairy farming.
Detailed Analysis:- To launch the training programme, NCW is collaborating with
agricultural universities in India in order to identify and train women working
in the field of dairy farming and allied activities in several like value
addition, quality enhancement and packaging & marketing of dairy products.
- First programme under this project was organised on ”Value
Added Dairy products” at Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary & Animal
Sciences in Hisar for women self-help groups.
- It was organised in collaboration
with the Haryana State Rural Livelihood Mission.
- This programme was launched because women in rural India are
involved in every part of dairy farming but they have not attained financial
independence.
- Thus, this project was launched with the aim of empower women and
help them in achieving them financial independence.
- This project seeks to help women in achieving financial
independence by training them in aspects like quality enhancement of dairy
products, value addition, packaging and marketing of their products and
increasing the shelf life of products.
- It is noted that NCW is the statutory body that advises the government on all
policy matters related to women, established on January 31, 1992
under the provisions of the Indian Constitution.

Swechha Program Launched by state Government of Andhra Pradesh - 08 Oct 21
Highlights:
- Swechha Program launched by Y.S Jagan Mohan Reddy, Andhra
Chief Minister, to handle the strain around Menstruation.
- The program aims to prioritize female personal hygiene and
encourage a healthy dialogue of information on Menstruation.
- Swechha is formed to ensure affordable access to health and
menstrual hygiene in adolescent girls and women.
- Good quality sanitary napkins will be provided to the female
students by the state government at government institutions for free.
- Ten sanitary napkins will be given each month to about 10
lakh adolescent girls studying from 7th-12th grades in government schools and
intermediate colleges across the state at a financial expense of INR 32 crores.
- A total of 120 napkins annually is allotted to each female
student.
- Even during summer vacations, the students are provided with their
share before they leave school.
Central Government approved 7 PM MITRA Parks - 08 Oct 21
Highlights:
- The Cabinet has approved 7 PM Mega Integrated Textile Region
and Apparel (MITRA) Parks.
- The MITRA parks will be set up costing Rs. 4445 crores in
five years.
- The park was announced as a part of Union Budget 2021-22,
which will help India stand at par with Global textile giants.
- These MITRA Parks were established in greenfield or
brownfield sites in different states.
- This will also help with the employment opportunities with 7 lakh
direct jobs and 14 lakh indirect jobs.
- Till now, states like Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Assam,
Gujarat, Rajasthan, and 5 more have shown interest in the establishment.
- A Rs 500 crore Maximum Development Capital Support (DCS)
will be provided to Greenfield PM MITRA.
- In contrast, Rs 200 Crore will be provided to Brownfield PM
MITRA to develop a standard Infrastructure.
- Aside from that, Rs 300 crore of Competitiveness Incentive
Support (CIS) also will be provided to those parks to determine textiles
manufacturing units there.
- PM MITRA initiative is motivated by PM Modi’s 5F vision of-
“farm to fibre; fibre to factory; factory to fashion; and fashion to foreign”.
DART Mission To Be Launched by NASA - 09 Oct 21

- NASA is set to launch the Double Asteroid Redirection Test
(DART) spacecraft on November 24, 2021.
- NASA’s Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) spacecraft
will be launched in SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket
- The Mission is set to launch on November 24, 2021, from
Vandenberg Space Force Base, California.
- NASA aims to build advanced technologies to protect the
Earth from dangerous asteroid collisions.
- There had been numerous warnings from astronomers and
scientists that there might be an asteroid Collision without a proper defence
system.
- The DART mission is based on the idea of developing a
defence system against asteroid collisions. It is in the final stages of
advancement.
- Under the mission, spacecraft will be sent towards the
Didymos asteroid system, approximately 109.4 kilometres away from Earth.
- Didymos system comprise of two asteroids, Didymos and
Dimorphos.
- The spacecraft will hit Dimorphos to decide if kinetic impactor
technology can secure or deflect asteroids.
- Kinetic impactor technology requires flying the spacecraft
directly into a small Solar System body.
DART Spacecraft: A Fact File- DART
spacecraft comprises compressed Roll-Out Solar Arrays (ROSA) and a Didymos
Reconnaissance & Asteroid Camera for Optical (DRACO) navigation.

suicidal spacecraft will hit the system at the speed of 24,140 Kmph.

- Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan, also known as “Father of Pakistan’s
nuclear bomb” has passed away.
- The atomic scientist, Dr Khan was the first man to transform
Pakistan into the world’s first Islamic nuclear power.
- He was known as” Father Of Pakistan’s Nuclear Bomb” in the
said country.
- He was also praised for his contributions to enhancing the
country’s defence capabilities.
- Dr Khan was born in 1936 in Bhopal and migrated to Pakistan
during the partition.
- He died on 10 October at 7 am at Khan Research Laboratories
hospital due to internal bleeding in his lungs

- 3 lakhs fingerlings were ranched at 3 sites in UP, namely,

- In Uttar Pradesh, about 500 people participated in the
national level launching of River Ranching program.
- 1 lakh fingerlings were ranched at Chandi Ghat, Ganga River
in Haridwar district of Uttarakhand.
- 85 lakh of fingerlings were ranched at 4 sites of Tripura
namely, Gomati River in Udaipur; Khowai river in Teliamura; Dhalai river in

What is River Ranching Programme ?- River ranching programme was introduced as special activity
under the ‘Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) scheme to augment and
enhance fish production and productivity by expanding, intensifying,
diversifying and utilizing land & water productively.
- National Fisheries Development Board, Hyderabad is the nodal
agency under central component of the PMMSY.
- The board has been designated by
the “Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries”.
- As the human population is growing, requirement of
high-quality protein & demand of fish is increasing gradually.

promote sustainable use and conservation of fishery resources in an economical

RBI Monetary Policy Committee Announcements - 13 Oct 21
Highlights:
- Three-membered Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the
Reserve Bank of India (RBI) maintained an accommodative stance and kept the
repo rate unchanged at 4 %, in order to revive & sustain growth and
reduce the impact of Covid-19 pandemic.
- Monetary Policy Committee has also ensured that inflation
remains within the target.
Detailed Analysis:- Reverse repo rate was also kept as earlier at 3.35 %.
- Marginal Standing Facility (MSF) rate and bank rate also
remain unchanged at 4.25 %.
- This was the eighth consecutive time that RBI has maintained
a status quo on policy rate.
- The central bank had last revised its policy rate
on May 22, 2020, in an off-policy cycle in order to boost the demand by cutting
interest rates.
- According to RBI Governor, high-frequency indicators point
that economic activity has gained momentum. Core inflation is still sticky.
- In
July-September, CPI inflation was lower than expected.
- Currently, India is in a
much better place as compared to the last MPC meeting.
- Now, growth impulses are
strengthening.
- Inflation trajectory is also favourable than it was expected.
- For financial year 2021-22, CPI inflation is projected at
5.3 %.
- As per RBI, food inflation is predicted to remain muted in
upcoming months, as a result of record production of food-grains.

- Global Multidimensional Poverty Index 2021 was released by
“United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)” and “Oxford Poverty & Human
Development Initiative (OPHI)”.
- This report examines the level and composition of
multidimensional poverty across 109 countries covering 5.9 billion people.
- It also takes into account several deprivations that people
experience in their day to day lives such as poor health, inadequate education
and poor standard of living.
Detailed Analysis:- As per report, 1.3 billion people are multidimensionally
poor, of which around 644 million are children under age 18.
- 85 percent of them live in Sub-Saharan Africa (556 million)
or South Asia (532 million).
- 67 percent of the poor live in middle-income countries.
- 1 billion poor are exposed to solid cooking fuels,
inadequate sanitation and substandard housing.
- 788 million poor people live in household with at least one
undernourished person.
- 568 million poor people do not have improved drinking water
within a 30-minute round trip walk.
- Scheduled Tribe group in India, which accounts for 9.4
percent of the population, is poorest.
- Out of 129 million people, 65 million
are living in multidimensional poverty.
- Out of 283 million scheduled caste group people, 94 million
are living in multidimensional poverty.
- In all, five out of six multidimensionally poor people live
in households whose head is from a Scheduled Tribe, a Scheduled Caste or Other
Backward Class (OBCs).
What is MPI ?- The Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) was launched by the
UNDP and the OPHI in the year 2010.
- MPI uses three dimensions and ten indicators
including:
- Education: Years of schooling and child enrolment (1/6
weightage each)
- Health: Child mortality and nutrition (1/6 weightage each)
- Standard of living: Electricity, drinking water, flooring,
sanitation, cooking fuel and assets (1/18 weightage each).
India agrees to $200 mn LoC to support Kyrgyzstan - 16 Oct 21

- According to External Affairs Minister (EAM), S Jaishankar,
India has agreed on USD 200 million Line of Credit support for the
developmental projects in Kyrgyzstan.
- This line of credit was agreed upon after meeting between
EAM S. Jaishankar and Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Ruslan Kazakbaev in Bishkek.
- Kazakhstan is the current Chair and initiator of CICA Forum.
- Jaishankar is also expected to hold bilateral talks with
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan, Mukhtar Tileuberdi.
- During the meeting, Jaishankar also discussed the need of
early travel of Indian students and liberal visa regime between both the

India to become full-time member: IEA - 17 Oct 21

- International Energy Agency (IEA) has invited India to
become its full-time member.
- This membership invitation was given in the light that,
India is world’s third-largest energy consumer.
- If this proposal is accepted, it will require India to
increase its strategic oil reserved to 90 days requirement.
Detailed Analysis:- Oil Minister Hardeep Singh Puri held discussions with IEA
Executive Director Fatih Birol. During the discussion, IEA executive director
invited India to deepen its cooperation with IEA by becoming its full member.
- India became an associate member of the IEA in March 2017.
IEA is a Paris-based body that advises industrialised nations regarding the
energy policies.
- In January 2021, IEA members & India agreed to enter into
a strategic partnership in order to strengthen their collaboration with respect
to energy security and clean energy transition.
- According to IEA report, India is becoming increasingly
influential in global energy sector.
- India’s demand for energy is set to increase rapidly in the
coming decades, particularly the electricity use.
- India’s reliance on fuel imports will make the improving
energy security a key priority for Indian economy.
- IEA comprises of 30 member countries and eight associate
nations. Four countries are seeking for a full membership namely, Colombia,
Chile, Israel and Lithuania.
- It is noted that IEA was founded in 1974 by industrialised countries under

Germany launches World’s First Self-Driving Train - 17 Oct 21
Highlights:
- German rail operator, Deutsche Bahn and industrial group,
Siemens launched the first automated & driverless train of the world on
October 11, 2021.
- The self-driving train was launched in the city of Hamburg.
- This train is more punctual and energy efficient as compared
to traditional trains.
- Country has planned to add four such trains to the S-Bahn
rapid urban rail network of northern city.
- These trains will start carrying passengers from December on
the existing rail infrastructure.
- Other cities such as Paris have driverless metros on the
other hand, airports often have automated monorail trains plying terminals.
- However, these trains run on exclusive single tracks while the Hamburg train
will share tracks with other regular trains.
World’s First Self-Driving Train: A Fact File- This project is being developed by ‘Siemens and Deutsche
Bahn’. It is being dubbed as “world first”.
- The project is part of a
60-million-euro modernisation of rapid urban rail system of Hamburg.
- These
automated trains will offer a reliable service without laying a single
kilometre of new track.
- These trains can transport “up to 30 % more
passengers”.
- Besides improving the punctuality, these trains will save more
than 30 % of energy.
- Though the train is controlled by digital technology and is
fully automated.
- But a driver will sit on the train to supervise journeys of
the passengers on board.
- It is noted that Deutsche Bahn is a German railway company, having its headquarter in
Berlin.
- It is a private joint-stock company.

- This year India has been ranked at 90th.
Detailed Analysis:- This Index was released at a time when countries are
relaxing the travel rules for international visitors after two years since the
beginning of Covid-19 pandemic in 2020.
- Henley Passport Index ranks the passports of countries on
the basis of number of destinations their holders can visit without getting
visa in advance.
- Rankings are decided by analysing the data provided by
‘International Air Transport Association (IATA)’.
- This year Japan and Singapore have topped the list as their
passports holders are allowed to travel across 192 countries visa-free.
- Japan secured the top position for the third year in a row.
- South Korea and Germany were at the second position.
- Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq, Yemen and Pakistan are among the
least powerful.
- India was ranked at 84th position in 2020. But in 2021, its
position has dropped to 90th position. India’s passport holders are allowed to
travel to 58 countries visa-free.
- India shares this rank with Tajikistan and
Burkina Faso.
- It is noted that,the Henley Passport Index was prepared by London-based
Henley and Partners, which is a global citizenship and residence advisory firm.
- It covers 199 passports and 227 destinations.

bonds”.
- It makes about a third of the EU’s €800bn Covid-19 recovery fund.

ranked at the top position on emissions related to crop burning.
- As per report, India accounted for 13 % of total global
emissions in the period of 2015-2020.
- Report notes a 12.2 % contribution by India towards
the cropland fire emissions in 2020 alone.
- The data highlights the new insights into recent trends in
biomass fires, including emissions from crop residue and forest residue fires in
India.
- For instance, data in report verifies the downward trend of

- As per report, GHG emissions due to cropland fires has

- National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) announced for
the launch of NPCI Tokenization system (NTS) on October 20, 2021.

provide support to the tokenisation of cards as an alternate for storing card
details with merchants.
- The NTS will support the tokenisation of RuPay cards in order
to further enhance the safety of customers as well to provide a seamless

- State cabinet of Madhya Pradesh in its meeting on October
19, 2021, decided to implement Mukhya Mantri Ration Aapke Dwar scheme.
- Mukhya Mantri Ration Aapke Dwar Scheme will be implemented
to benefit the poor tribal families.
- It will be implemented in tribal development blocks of state
excluding those blocks which fall under districts which are undergoing bypolls.
Detailed Analysis:- The scheme is going to benefit tribal families of around
7511 villages in 74 development blocks of 16 districts.
- Ration will be distributed from headquarters village as well
as by transporting it through vehicle across other villages attached to the
shop.
- Collector will fix the days of each month for distribution
in the village.
- On an average, in a month, 220 to 440 quintals of ration
will be distributed by a vehicle for 22 to 25 days.

- Under the scheme, there will be an annual expenditure of Rs. 24,000 per month on one metric ton vehicle while an expenditure of Rs 31,000
per month will be on 2 metric ton vehicle.

vehicle will also be tested.

Nano Nitrogen Liquid Fertiliser : A Fact File- Nano Nitrogen Liquid Fertilizer was developed by Indian
Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO), with the objective of
addressing imbalanced and excessive use of conventional Urea.
- It has been developed indigenously, for the first time in
the world.
- It was developed at Nano Biotechnology Research Centre
(NBRC) of IFFCO at Kalol, Gujarat by means of a proprietary patented
technology.
What is Nano Urea (Liquid) ?- It is a source of nitrogen and a major essential nutrient
that are required for proper growth and development of plants.
- Nitrogen is a
key constituent of amino acids, genetic materials, enzymes, energy transfer
compounds and photosynthetic pigments in a plant.
- Usually, in a healthy plant,
nitrogen content is present in the range of 1.5 to 4%.

(Liquid) at critical crop growth stages of the plant fulfils its nitrogen
requirement and increases its productivity and quality as compared to

increase of 77% in child ‘self-generated’ sexual material between 2019 to 2020.
- As per the report, currently, 37% of children use tools to
detect online grooming.

India’s first Banni buffalo IVF calf born - 27 Oct 21
Highlights:
- India’s first IVF (in-vitro
fertilisation) calf of Banni breed of buffaloes was born at a farmer’s house in
Gir Somnath district of Gujarat on October 23, 2021.
- Banni breed of buffalo is found primarily in the Kutch
region of Gujarat.
- IVC process was carried out in a bid to enhance the number
of genetically superior buffaloes for increasing the milk production.
- Banni buffalo, belonging to a dairy farmer, from Dhanej
village gave birth to IVF male calf.
- Embryos of Banni donors were implanted in 18 recipient
buffaloes using the IVF technology.
- Banni breed had achieved six pregnancies, out of which one
calf was born, at the farmer’s firm. More will be born in few days.
- This process was carried out by JKBovagenix of NGO JK Trust
which is a social initiative of Raymond Group.
Banni buffalo: A Fact File- Banni buffalo are also known as “Kutchi” or “Kundi”.

breed of buffalo is found primarily in Kutch district of Gujarat.

pasture grass species as well, that are native to this region.

Jaynagar-Kurta Rail Link Handed Over To Nepal - 28 Oct 21
Highlights:
- India has handed over a 34.9 km long cross-border rail link
to the Nepal government that connects Jayanagar in Bihar to Kurtha in Nepal.
- The ceremony took place on October 22, 2021, with the Indian
ambassador to Nepal Vinay M. Kwatra and Nepal minister for physical
Infrastructure & transport Renu Kumari Yadav.
- The Jaynagar - Kurta section of the rail link is the part of
68.7 km Jaynagar - Bijalpura - Bardidas rail link.
- It was built under the grant assistance programme of the
Indian government.
- A total of 34.9 km narrow gauge has been completed, and the
project was completed at the cost of Rs 619 crore.
- It has five stations in the section, namely, Jayanagar,
Khajuri, Inarwa, Baidehi and Kurtha near Janakpur in Nepal.
- The highest fare will likely be Rs 70 for the general class
and Rs 300 for AC for the entire journey.
- The train will run at 115 km per hour, and the distance will
be covered in 23 minutes.
- This operationalised cross-border rail link is likely to

- The central government has planned to set up a committee for
National Employment Policy (NEP), which seeks to create a roadmap for improving
job opportunities in India.

recommendations will be taken.

- The 1st Training Squadron is on a 4-day visit to Sri Lanka
from 24 - 28 Oct as part of their Overseas Deployment for the 100th and 101st
Integrated Officers Training Course.
- The deployment is aimed to broaden the horizons of young
officers and officer-trainees by exposing them to the socio-political and
maritime facets of different countries in the Indian Ocean Region.
Detailed Analysis:- The deployment will also expose the trainees onboard towards
the conduct of IN warships in various evolutions at sea, port familiarisation
and above all, foster the bridges of friendship with foreign nations.
- The ships are part of Southern Naval Command (SNC), which is
the Training Command of the Indian Navy.
- The 1st Training Squadron based at Kochi provides the ‘first
sea legs’ to the Executive Officers of the Indian Navy on completion of their
ab-initio training at the Indian Naval Academy.
- The Squadron comprises seven indigenously built ships, namely,
Indian Naval Ships Tir, Sujata, Magar, Shardul, Coast Guard Ship Vikram and two

Civil Aviation Minister launches Krishi UDAN 2.0 - 31 Oct 21
Highlights:
- The Ministry of Civil Aviation launched “Krishi Udan 2.0
scheme” on October 27, 2021.
- Under “Krishi Udan 2.0 scheme”, cargo-related infrastructure
will be built in airports of hilly, tribal, and north-east regions.
- Such infrastructure will help in assisting farmers to
transport agriculture products.
- Central government had launched Krishi Udan scheme in
September 2020.
- Under the scheme, airport charges like parking charges &
terminal navigational landing charges were waived off.
- Charges were waived off
if the agricultural cargo is more than 50 % of the total chargeable
weight carried.
What is Krishi Udan 2.0 ?- Under Krishi Udan 2.0, central government has planned for
granting full waiver of airport charges at select airports.
- Waiver would be
given even if agricultural cargo is lower than 50 % of total chargeable
weight carried. Centre will also facilitate the development of hub and spoke
model across India.
- Government will also create cargo terminals at the airports
in phase-wise manner.
- Moreover, government will encourage states to reduce
sales tax to one per cent on aviation turbine fuel, which is used in freighter
aircraft and passenger aircraft for transporting cargo.
- Under the Cargo scheme, cargo terminals will be established at the
airports in Agartala, Dibrugarh, Srinagar, Hubbali, Dimapur, Jorhat, Imphal,
Silchar, Lilabari, Lucknow, Tirupati, Tezpur, Tirupati and Tuticorin by 2022.
- In between 2022-23, cargo terminals will be established at
airports in Ahmedabad, Jharsuguda, Bhavnagar, Mysore, Kozhikode, Rajkot,
Puducherry, and Vijayawada.
- The scheme has been launched with the aim of channelising
the immense potential of Indian agriculture with logistical help of civil
aviation in a bid to achieve the goal of doubling farmers’ income.
- It will also
help in alleviating wastage of farm produce and increase its value.
- e-Kushal platform would be developed under Krishi Udan
2.0 scheme for facilitating information dissemination to stakeholders with
respect to transportation of agriculture produce.

- Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises launched
the “SAMBHAV National Level Awareness Programme, 2021” in new Delhi on October

students will be made aware of the several schemes that the Ministry of MSME is
implementing through Audio or Video film presentations.

be conducted across 1,300 colleges in India, in which around 1,50,000 students
will participate.

John Halas.
- ASIFA was founded in 1960, in Annecy, France.
- ASIFA created the International Animation Day (IAD) in 2002,
honouring the birth of animation.
- This is recognized as the first public performance of
projected moving images, Emile Reynaud’s Theatre Optique in Paris, on the 28th
of October 1892.
