farming, natural farming, and cow-based economies for environmental sustenance

India-World Bank project on Dam Safety Program - 09 Aug 21
Highlights:
- Government of India, Central Water Commission, government
representatives of 10 participating states and World Bank signed a $250 million
project on August 4, 2021 for long-term dam safety program.
- Project will help in improving the safety and performance of
existing dams across different states in India.
- Agreement for the project was signed by Additional Secretary
of Department of Economic Affairs under Ministry of Finance, representatives
from the state governments and Junaid Ahmad on behalf of the World Bank.
DRIP-2: A Fact File- This project will help in strengthening dam safety by
building dam safety guidelines, bringing in global experience, and by
introducing innovative technologies.

project is to transform dam safety management.

Banerjee as new director of ZSI.

Gramin Digital Saksharta Abhiyan Scheme - 10 Aug 21
Highlights:
- Recently, the Government announced that approximately
five crore beneficiaries have been enrolled and four crores have been trained
under Pradhan Mantri Gramin Digital Saksharta Abhiyan Scheme as of August 2,
2021.
- According to Union Minister for women and Child Development,
Smriti Irani, over two crore women beneficiaries are registered under the
scheme.
- Out of them, one crore women beneficiaries are certified
under scheme which accounts for 54% of the total certified beneficiaries
under it.
- Government had the target of reaching six crore households
by March 2022.
Pradhan Mantri Gramin Digital Saksharta Abhiyaan: A Fact File- This scheme was launched to make six crore persons residing
in rural areas, across States and UTs, digitally literate. It was launched with
the aim of bridging digital divide and specifically targeting rural population.
- It also includes marginalised sections of society such as Scheduled Castes
(SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Minorities, Below Poverty Line (BPL), women,
differently-abled persons and minorities.

Region (DoNER) will launch the first edition of the North Eastern Region
District Sustainable Development (NERDSD) Goal Index Report and Dashboard
2021-22 on the August 26, 2021.

- Launch of NERDSD goal index report is also a milestone in
the efforts towards localising Sustainable Development Goals across 120

- This index has been prepared by collaborative efforts of

Maharashtra govt launched Special Programme for Widows - 27 Aug 21

- Maharashtra government launched a special mission called
“Mission Vatsalya” in order to help women who lost their husbands to COVID-19.
- Mission Vatsalya will provide several services and some 18
benefits under one roof to those women.
- It been designed for widows, with special focus on widows
coming from rural areas, poor backgrounds and deprived sections.
- Under this mission, schemes like Sanjay Gandhi Niradhar

- Amid the covid-19 pandemic, about 15,095 women lost their
husbands in last 18 months. District Task Force has listed 14,661 such women in

development (WCD) Department.
- Officers from WCD department, child development
project officers, Anganwadi workers and local unit officers are visiting homes
these women to provide them services.
- As of now, WCD department has reached out
to 10,500 women.

- The company submitted its interim clinical data for Phase I
study to the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) to get the

Phase- I data suggests that HGCO19 vaccine is safe, tolerable, and immunogenic.

by Gennova Biopharmaceuticals Ltd. in collaboration with HDT Biotech
Corporation of USA.
