Prime Minister Narendra Modi commissioned three indigenously built platforms into the Indian Navy at Kolkata

Prime Minister Narendra Modi commissioned three indigenously built platforms into the Indian Navy at Kolkata on June 21, 2026: INS Dunagiri, INS Sanshodhak, and INS Agray

Designed by the Navy's Warship Design Bureau and built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE), these vessels signify a major boost to India's maritime capabilities and defense self-reliance.

The three commissioned platforms include:

  • INS Dunagiri: An advanced stealth-guided missile frigate equipped with state-of-the-art weapons and sensors, including BrahMos missiles.
  • INS Sanshodhak: A large hydrographic survey vessel designed for deep-water surveys and collecting crucial oceanographic and geophysical data.
  • INS Agray: An Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW SWC) armed with lightweight torpedoes, rocket launchers, and advanced sonar systems to track and engage underwater threats.

Built with over (75%) indigenous content, these ships feature heavy involvement from Indian industries and MSMEs, directly aligning with India's Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant) vision.
