Naftali Bennett, First Official Of Israeli PM To UAE

Highlights:

• Prime Minister Naftali Bennett started the first official visit by an Israeli leader to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on 12 December.
• This was done to support Gulf ties at increased regional tension, as global powers tried to revive the nuclear deal with Iran.
• Naftali Bennett took office as the head of the Israeli coalition government in June 2021.
• He has scheduled to hold talks with the UAE’s de facto leader, Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan.
• This diplomatic outreach has come when world powers negotiate with Iran on the 2015 nuclear deal, which Israel opposes.
• The nuclear deal was also left in 2018 by US President Donald Trump.
• Naftali Bennett took office as the head of the Israeli consolidation government in June 2021.
• He has scheduled to hold talks with the UAE’s de facto leader, Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan.
• This diplomatic outreach has come when world forces negotiate with Iran on the 2015 nuclear deal, which Israel opposes.
• The nuclear deal was also abandoned in 2018 by US President Donald Trump.
• Following the Baghdad Airport Airstrike in January 2020, which targeted and killed Iranian general Qassem Soleimani, Iran declared that it would no longer abide by the limitations of the nuclear deal.
• Still, it would continue to coordinate with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
•  Again, in December 2020, Iranian officials voiced their willingness to rejoin the deal on the requirement that US officials make commitments to lift sanctions & rejoin the deal.

• The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action is generally known as the Iran nuclear deal or Iran deal.
• It is an accord on the Iranian nuclear program, inscribed on 14 July 2015 in Vienna.
• Legal negotiations on JCPOA signed the deal between Iran and the P5+1.
• Formal negotiations on JCPOA started with embracing the Joint Plan of Action, an interim agreement between Iran and P5+1 countries, signed in November 2013.

• To destroy its stockpile of medium-enriched uranium
• To clip down a stockpile of low-enriched uranium by 98%
• To decrease the number of gas centrifuges by two-thirds.
• Under the agreement, Iran will only increase uranium up to 3.67% for the next 15 years.
• Iran also agreed not to make any new heavy-water facilities for 15 years.
