• The Day is a United Nations’ recognized international day.

• International Universal Health Coverage Day seeks to raise awareness of the need for robust and resilient health strategies and universal health range with multi-stakeholder partners.
• Each year on 12 December, UHC supporters boost their voices to convey the accounts of the millions of people still waiting for health, champion what we have accomplished so far, call on leaders to make more effective and more innovative investments in health, and encourage diverse groups to make commitments to help move the world closer to UHC by 2030.

• On 12 December 2012, the United Nations General Assembly approved a resolution urging countries to revive progress toward universal health coverage (UHC)  as an essential priority for international development.
• On 12 December 2017, the United Nations declared 12 December as International Universal Health Coverage Day.
