Sunil Arora Invited To Join IDEA

• Former chief election commissioner (CEC) Sunil Arora is requested to join the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance board, also known as International IDEA.
• IDEA has a 15-member board of directors. 
• All are prominent personalities from various backgrounds.
• The election commission of India officially announced that Sunil Arora has rich administrative experience, knowledge, and skills to contribute significantly to the working of the International Institute.
• Sunil Arora is India's 23rd Chief Election Commissioner from December 2018 to April 2021.
• It was under his leadership that the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections were conducted.

• The International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA) happened to be founded in 1995.
• It is an intergovernmental body located in Stockholm, Sweden. 
• India is one of the founding members of the institute.
• The vital mission of International IDEA is to promote sustainable democracy worldwide.
• It has 34 member countries, including new, old, small and large governments from all continents.
