  • The East Asia Summit is the premier Leaders-led conference in the Indo-Pacific.
  • Since its beginning in 2005, it has played a vital role in East Asia's strategic and geopolitical evolution.
  • Apart from the 10 ASEAN Member states, East Asia Summit comprises India, China, Japan, Korea, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and Russia.
  • Being a founding member of the East Asia Summit, India is obliged to strengthen the East Asia Summit and make it more efficient for dealing with modern challenges.
  • It is also an indispensable platform for promoting practical cooperation in the Indo-Pacific by developing upon the meeting between ASEAN Outlook on Indo-Pacific (AOIP) and Indo-Pacific Ocean's Initiative (IPOI).
