PM Narendra Modi attends 16th East Asia Summit 27 October

The East Asia Summit is the premier Leaders-led conference in the Indo-Pacific.
Since its beginning in 2005, it has played a vital role in East Asia's strategic and geopolitical evolution.
Apart from the 10 ASEAN Member states, East Asia Summit comprises India, China, Japan, Korea, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and Russia.
Being a founding member of the East Asia Summit, India is obliged to strengthen the East Asia Summit and make it more efficient for dealing with modern challenges.
It is also an indispensable platform for promoting practical cooperation in the Indo-Pacific by developing upon the meeting between ASEAN Outlook on Indo-Pacific (AOIP) and Indo-Pacific Ocean's Initiative (IPOI).
At the 16th East Asia Summit, Leaders will discuss regional and international interest and concern matters, including maritime security, terrorism, and Covid-19 cooperation.
Leaders are also expected to accept declarations on mental health and economic recovery through Tourism and Green Recovery, which India co-sponsored.
