Diesel became costlier than petrol for the first time in Odisha
- The Indian state Odisha where diesel became costlier than
petrol for the first time.
- A litre of diesel cost 12 paise more than that of petrol in
Odisha’s capital Bhubaneswar on 21 October 2018 with diesel being sold at Rs
80.69 per litre while petrol cost 80.57 per litre.
- This was the first instance of diesel becoming costlier than
petrol in any Indian state.
- While other states have different VAT rates for petrol and
diesel, Odisha charges a uniform 26% VAT on both.
