The Korean technology gian Samsung launches Tizen-powered smartphone Z1 in India

Highlights: 

  • Korean technology giant Samsung recently launched the first phone powered by Tizen operating system in India - Samsung Z1.
  • The device is priced at Rs. 5,700.
  • The new OS will help Samsung reduce its reliance on Google's Android operating system, which powers most of its smartphones and tablets.
  • Previously, Samsung tried its luck with 'Bada' OS too, which did not see much success.
  • Presently, a few products, including company's Gear smartwatches run on the Tizen OS.
  • Samsung will soon be launched Tizen-based television as well.
  • The dual SIM device is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor,768 MB RAM and 4GB internal memory expandable up to 64GB.
  • It features four-inch display, 3.1 MP rear and a VGA front camera and 1,500 mAh battery.
  • Samsung has tied-up with Reliance Communications and Aircel to offer up to 500MB of 3G data free every month over 6 months.
