INS Sandhayak, the Indian Navy's oldest hydrographic survey
ship, has been decommissioned.
The Navy's oldest hydrographic survey ship, INS Sandhayak,
was decommissioned after 40 years of service to the nation.
INS Sandhayak conducted over 200 major hydrographic surveys
along the Indian peninsula's western and eastern coasts, the Andaman Sea, and
in neighbouring countries such as Sri Lanka, Myanmar, and Bangladesh.
The ship also participated in significant operations such as
Operation Pawan in Sri Lanka (1987), Operation Rainbow for Humanitarian
Assistance following the 2004 Tsunami, and the inaugural Indo-US HADR Exercise
Tiger-Triumph in 2019.
