Launch of Horticulture Cluster Development Programme


  • The Horticulture Cluster Development Programme (CDP) was launched by the Ministry of Agriculture. 
  • The objective of the programme is to ensure the holistic growth of horticulture.
  • During the pilot phase, the programme will be implemented in 12 horticulture clusters across 11 states/UTs.
  • It is a central sector programme.
  • It is implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare's National Horticulture Board (NHB).
  • Goal: To grow and develop identified horticulture clusters in order to make them globally competitive.
  • The programme will benefit approximately ten lakh farmers.
  • When implemented in all 53 clusters, it is expected to generate an investment of Rs. 10,000 crore.
  • All major issues will be addressed, including pre-production, production, post-harvest management, logistics, marketing, and branding.
